At Monday evening’s Herscher CUSD2 board meeting, Supt. Rich Decman informed the board that the district is up about a million dollars from last year at this time. This is due, in part, to receiving tax payments earlier than last year.

In addition, the Audit Report for FY21 was discussed. The district received a good audit rating. The board also approved district owned items as surplus.

Decman reviewed the proposed 2021 School District Tax Levy report which asks for a levy of 4.715% for next year.

Regarding personnel, resignations were approved for Amanda Kennedy – HHS Parapro, and John Benoit – FT Custodian, LMS. The following people were hired: Jamie Jones BGS Parapro – Pending licensure, Hannah Hokanson – BGS Parapro, and Amber Brown – FT Custodian, LMS.

Rebecca Harms, 6th grade orchestra teacher, addressed the board. Seven parents were in attendance. At least one of those in attendance had hoped to address the board, but was unaware that the public comment period had already passed.

Information regarding the Public Comment Period at a school board meeting is as follows:

Those wishing to address the Board of Education on a district-related matter must sign in prior to this portion of the meeting and state the subject of their comments. Forms are on the district website (under Board of Education/Meeting Agendas) for the public to complete and bring with them.

No discussion of Individual personnel or students is permitted during public comment. Personnel/student concerns should first be directed to an administrator and if necessary a private session will be arranged with the Board to discuss such concerns.
