Business As Usual

Herscher’s Village Board met Monday evening as usual, but seating was not at all as usual. Complying with social distancing involved the unique configuration of tables as well as teleconferencing with one board member and the village attorney.

At Monday evening’s Village Board meeting, finances were discussed, including Herscher’s $111.79 share of new funds received by the State of Illinois for cannabis sales.

Also relating to funding, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, regular state payments will be delayed, but will be paid eventually.

Water and sewer late fees and turn offs are waived for the months of April and May to assist those who are financially affected by the pandemic.

Beginning May 1, monthly garbage rates will increase by 61 cents to $20.21 per month. The village will continue to absorb the 51-cent hike from last year.

The village is accepting applications for a part time building code enforcement officer.

The village office remains closed to visitors. Please do any business by phone and use the drop box outside the office for payments.

Residents are reminded that it is beneficial for everyone to complete their 2020 Census. There are nine questions and it can be completed in minutes.
