4-H Livestock Auction Grosses $91,247

Saturday’s annual Kankakee 4-H livestock auction showcased several 4-H’ers from around the area and their prized livestock. 

Local businesses and individuals yet again showed their generosity to the owners of their livestock.

The end result was a sale which grossed $91,247 which is $35,270 less than last year’s $126,517. The record of $148,392 was set in 2008.

Vinny Smolkovich, Cabery Specials, sold his grand champion barrow for $10.00 per pound. Ava Smolkovich, Cabery Specials, with her reserve grand champion barrow, netted $8.00 per pound. 

Madyson Rogers, Herscher Hustlers, had the grand champion pair of barrows which sold for $4.75 per pound. Gabrielle McDermott, Cabery Specials, also garnered $4.75 per pound for her pair of reserve grand champion barrows.

Kylie Saathoff, Manteno Best Pioneers, sold a dairy certificate from her grand champion female for $450.

Maya Meyer, Chebanse Ag, had the grand champion meat goat which sold for $1100. Jonathon Blanchette’s, St. George Dragons, reserve grand champion meat goat brought $250.

Hunter Radtke, Kids With Kids, sold the grand champion dairy goat for $200.  Arthur Bauer, Kids with Kids, received $250 for his reserve grand champion dairy goat.

Samantha Ramirez, Momence Troopers, had the grand champion poultry meat pen which brought $400. Jonathon Blanchette, St. George Dragons, sold his reserve grand champion poultry meat pen for $300.

Aidan Knobloch, Herscher Hustlers, had the grand champion beef rate-of-gain. It sold for $4.00 per pound. Cierra Congelosi, Herscher Hustlers, had the reserve grand champion which also brought $4.00 per pound.

The wether lamb carcass grand champion winner was Kylie Adams, Chebanse Ag, who received $4.75 per pound, and Mackenzie Adams’, Chebanse Ag, reserve grand champion brought $5.25 per pound.

The pork premiere grand champion went to Chloe Johnston, Herscher Hustlers, selling for $4.00 per pound. Avery Wright, Herscher Hustlers, received the reserve grand champion pork premiere which brought $5.00 per pound.

The grand champion rabbit meat pen went to Mitchell Bauer, Kids With Kids. It sold for $275. The reserve grand champion meat pen belonged to Landon Hertz, Herscher Hustlers, selling for $400.

Arthur Bauer, Kids With Kids, had the grand champion single fryer and it sold for $175. Hunter Radtke, Kids With Kids, sold his reserve grand champion fryer for $175, as well.

Kylie Saathoff, Manteno Best Pioneers, sold her grand champion steer for $4.50 per pound. Peyton Richie, Cabery Specials, sold her reserve grand champion steer for $3.50 per pound.

Cole Saathoff, Manteno Best Pioneers, had the grand champion wether which sold for $12.00 per pound. Colin Saathoff,  Manteno Best Pioneers, had the reserve grand champion wether which brought $11.00 per pound.

Cole Saathoff, Manteno Best Pioneers, had the grand champion pair of wethers as well, which sold for $2.00 per pound. Kylie Adams, Chebanse Ag, had the reserve grand champion pair of wethers which brought $2.50 per pound.
