After a 2 ½ hour hearing, Judge Ronald J. Gerts sentenced Carmella S. Larson to six years in prison for driving under the influence of alcohol. On May 15, 2016, the car she was driving crashed into a car killing Kameron Allison and severely injuring his brother, Kyuss.
On that fateful day, according to investigators, Larson and her boyfriend at that time, Nathan Lockhart, had been drinking most of the day.
The 2013 Hyundai driven by Carmella S. Larson, 33, of St. Anne, was traveling southbound on 19000 West road and failed to yield as it traveled westbound on IL 17. The Hyundai struck the 2008 Pontiac driven by Kyuss Allison.
Larson, 36, had been found guilty of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol in April.
Larson will begin her sentence on August 15, and must serve 85 percent of it. She will be on parole for three years after her release. She also will have to pay fines and court costs. Larson has 30 days to appeal the sentence.
