Lt. Tim and Jordyn Regnier, volunteer firefighters of the Salina Township Fire Protection District, were married on October 29.

Just one week later, on November 5, at 11:30 AM, a firecall of a structure fire on Rt. 17 in Bonfield went out to area fire departments.

Salina, Herscher, Limestone, Essex, Kankakee, and Otto responded to the call.

The burning structure was the home of the Regniers, which was just purchased in March of this year.

When help arrived, flames were already shooting out of the home’s roof.

The blaze was exacerbated by Saturday’s relentless high winds of over 65 mph.

Within a short time, the Regnier home and its contents were destroyed and their puppy, Max, had perished.

Donations for the young couple were collected at the Salina Township Fire breakfast on Sunday.

Further donations can be sent to: PO Box 175, Bonfield, IL 60913.
