Peaceful BLM Protest in Herscher

On Monday afternoon, approximately 25 people attended a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest at Herscher’s Village Park organized by Skyler Brinkman, a 2015 Herscher High School graduate.

Brinkman’s Facebook post advertised the event.

In is she states, “Our aim with this event is to bring awareness of the current movement to every corner of the county. We’ve had successful peaceful protests all over town, and it’s important to keep these small towns in the conversation.

Hate will not be welcomed here. We’ll be exercising our right to peacefully protest in a public park, and any threats of violence will be taken very seriously.”

Extra police units were on hand for the protest.

Being mindful of the Covid-19 pandemic, many of the participants were wearing face masks.
