The Herscher Village Board met on Monday evening.
After a discussion on road salt policies, it was decided to continue salting downtown and Main Street as in the past. The salt is only effective in high traffic areas and only if the temperature is above 15 degrees.
The purchase of three new computers and accompanying software was approved for police and village use. Next year, a new server will be purchased.
Bid requests for painting the park light poles and a wastewater tank at the sewer plant will be forthcoming.
There was a water main break during the cold weather last week.
In addition, the extreme cold caused three new water meter plates to break - as they were designed to do before extensive damage occurred to the meter.
A setback variance, aprroved by the zoning board for the storage units at 121 S. Maple, was approved.
Regarding police matters, it was noted that school resource officer Sarah Meister, participated in Dollars for Scholars last weekend by providing a tasty side dish to represent Herscher High School.
