“It’s time to retire,” stated Bob Eich when he visited the Pilot office on Monday.

Things have changed greatly over the years since Eich begin working 70 years ago with his father. At that time, some of the farming was still being done with horses

After serving the Herscher community for 47 years the 85-year-old will close the doors this week of  R. Eich & Sons, Inc., his family plumbing, heating, and air conditioning business.

Eich relates, “We always considered it a family operation.”

His son, Corey, has worked in the family business since graduating from school 28 years ago, and Bob’s wife, Rena, has worked there for 25 years.

Corey has taken a job at Riverside Healthcare.

Eich would like to thank all present and past customers for their business. He continues, “It has been an honor to serve all of you.”

Retiring from the business will have its perks.

Eich shares, “It will be nice to not receive a call to fix someone’s furnace on Christmas Day.”

His message to the community is on page 3.
