At Monday evening’s Herscher Village Board meeting, Carmen Huizenga, an accountant for Smith, Koelling, Dykstra, & Ohm, provided highlights of the 2018-2019 Audited Financial Statement. As Huizenga concluded the positive report, John Branz lamented that the SKDO office has closed their branch in Herscher.
August sales tax brought in $28,790 for the village.
Bob Voss stated that the Christmas decorations are up, but two of the lights are not working. The Village is in the second year of a three-year contract for the decorations. In addition, he voiced a desire to rent a street vacuum for leaves for next year.
A donation of $130 was approved for Shop with a Cop, which provides two $65 shopping trips for needy children.
The Board recognized Drew Rogers for his 2019 IHSA Class 1A Cross Country State Championship. Herscher will soon be boasting a highway sign on Rt. 115 stating his accomplishment.
Ten Herscher High School seniors were in attendance to fulfill their civics requirement for the semester.
