At Monday evening’s HCUSD2 board meeting, the board acknowledged the donation of the WGN WeatherBug camera and weather station. Mr. Miller, Herscher Intermediate School Principal, discussed the educational benefits of having the equipment.

Four Herscher High School teachers have received National Board Certification: Amy Meyer, Mike Morris, Phillip Peacock, and Jessie Rezba. The certification is the most respected professional certification available in K-12 education.

 Brad Elliot, Herscher High School principal, explained the positive benefits of having advisory time at the end of the day - which is new this school year. Positives include a lack of interruptions for fall sports, more participation in clubs, and fewer disruptions during the school day.

The calendar for the 2020-2021 school year was approved. The first day for teachers will be August 18 with students beginning on August 19. There will be 4 early release days and 4 teachers institute days. 

Regarding personnel, Laura Moran resigned as Limestone Middle School’s Athletic Director effective the end of the current school year. Cara Anderson was hired as an extra trip bus driver and Kathleen Brown as a Herscher Intermediate School Parapro. Matt Patchett will be a Herscher HS Volunteer Asst. Fishing Coach.

Vera J. Brantan’s memorial donation to Limestone Middle School has been honored with a plaque that is displayed in the new edition of the school. (See related photo on page 4.) 

There was a First reading of HHS Curriculum Guide and HHS Parent/Student Handbook for 2020-2021. 

In addition, the board approved the Board Policy Manual additions/revisions presented via IASB Press Plus Issue 102 and the K-8 Parent/Student Handbook for 2020-2021.
