2019 Valedictorians

The Herscher High School valedictorians for 2019 are (L-R) Marco Contreras, Chloe Walsh, Kassandra Decman, and Kyler Masching.  They each have a 5.2 Grade Point average, and will be delivering valedictory speeches at graduation, which will take place on Friday, May 24 at 7 pm.                                      HERSCHER PILOT photo 


Marco Contreras

 Marco Contreras, of Kankakee, son of Frank and Michelle Contreras, will major in Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern  University. 

While attending HHS, Marco was active in Praiie-8 District Student Council (President), HHS Student Council (President), Class Officer (President), National Honor Society, Math Team, Peer tutoring, Football, Spanish Club, and the Academic Challenge team. In addition, he was an Illinois State Scholar.

Kassie Decman

Kassie Decman, of Kankakee, daughter of Jill and Richard Decman, will be attending Butler University to major in Statistics. As an HHS student, Cassie was a Peer Tutor, and a member of Student Council, Math Team (Captain), Scholastic Bowl, WYSE, and the Academic Challenge team. She was an Illinois State Scholar as well.

Kyler Masching

Kyler Masching, of Cabery, son of David and Dana Masching, will attend the University of Illinois, majoring in Agribusiness: Marketing and Management. 

While attending HHS, Kyler participated in FFA (Vice-President), Basketball, Football (Captain), Student Council, Academic Challenge, and Math Team. Also, he was an Illinois State Scholar, FFA State Degree Recipient, Illinois State Farmer Finalist, and All-Area Football Player.

Chloe Walsh

Chloe Walsh, of Cabery, daughter of John and Deborah Walsh, will be majoring in Kinesiology at the University of Illinois.

As an HHS student, Chloe was a member of SADD (President), WYSE, Student Council (Executive Board), Spanish Club, Best Buddies, Interact, Soccer (Captain), and Basketball. Also, she was a Class Officer (Treasurer), columnist for the school newspaper, an office runner, and a Peer Tutor. In addition, she was an Illinois State Scholar.
