At Monday evening’s Herscher Village Board meeting, Bob Voss stated that there are still a large number of ash trees throughout the village that need to be removed due to the Ash Borer infestation.

The purchase of new police radios is required for the switch to StarCom digital radio communications which will begin 1/1/2020. Therefore, the board approved the purchase of six portable radios and 3 mobile radios.

Water plant improvements and a SCADA system totaling $335,526 were approved. Included are a new water tank and filter as well as building modifications to house the tank. The project has been budgeted for and will be self-financed by the village.

Keith Witheft, village employee, stated that the recent repair of the water tower was completed and it was a smooth transition, due largely to the village residents practicing water conservation.

A $100 donation was approved to donate to the One Pet/One Vet golf outing.

In addition, Evan Brown, 16, was hired as part time summer help for the village.
