Monday evening’s Herscher Village Board meeting began with a moment of silence in honor of Richard “Dick” Fitch for his service on the board.
According to Bob Voss, the public works department is ready for winter weather.
Due to the gathering of water after a big rain, drainage work has been approved for Sims Field. Also, the board approved the replacement of its worn out truck with a used one under $12,000.
Also, at the sewer plant, the fence is up and the crew is working on sandblasting and painting the tanks.
Trick or treat hours are set for 4:30-7:00 PM on October 31.
At the end of the meeting, Misty Gaus, Herscher postmaster, along with Oscar Obregon, area manager of post office operations, and Jessica Pangle, Bourbonnais postmaster, presented a framed picture of the emergency responders stamp to Herscher Fire Chief, Alan Ramsey, and Asst. Chief, Corey Eich in order to thank the department for their tireless work at the August Union Hill fire which destroyed the post office.
