Amon Loren Atkinson (Peewee) of Las Vegas, NV passed away May 2nd, 2022, just shy of his 94th birthday.  Amon was born in Golconda, IL to Amon and Gertrude (Churchill) Atkinson on June 10th, 1928.  His wife Patricia Marie (Lipinski) of 67 years preceded him in death.  He is survived by his five children; Anita Shapiro, Michael Atkinson, Susan (Pete) Newcomb, James (Stacey) Atkinson, and Cheryl Martinez; and ten grandchildren.

Amon migrated to Chicago at age 17 to work on the Illinois Central Railroad.  For 42 years, he had a front row seat to the evolution of the rail industry; first as a fireman shoveling coal into the old steam engines, then as an engineer on diesel locomotives, and finally on the electric commuter trains to and from Chicago.  He was quite the golfer and enjoyed playing a round or two with friends and family.  Amon was also a very good billiards player.  He enjoyed being retired for 34 years in sunny Las Vegas with his wife Patricia.

Cremation rites were accorded and a private memorial service for family will be in Las Vegas, details to be determined.
