So this is my first column, and I’m very excited. I have a lot of topics I plan on writing about over these next few months, but I would like to start this month with a particular subject because it has been one year since I have seen my father.

Tattoos (that’s TATTOO, not TABOO) has finally come up in the office. Although, I must say I am a little surprised it didn’t come up earlier. My own body is ‘littered’ with three different tattoos, all with meaning might I add, but I would’ve thought you would insult them earlier than this!

Apparently I did not get the memo that prom is the only topic that can be discussed from March 18th forward. But I guess that is the case because I’ve heard more about prom in the past two weeks than I have about my new perm, THANKS A LOT GUYS; I SEE HOW IT IS.

Herscher High School’s gymnasium has attracted many a thrill into this small town since it opened in December, 1968. But during this year’s post season tournament, only echoes from the past can be heard.

How could anyone forget the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show? Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, and the wardrobe malfunction that revealed Jackson’s right…asset. 

While our area was spared from the recent widespread devastation which swept through Illinois and Indiana, the wind storm of Sunday, Nov. 17, did do some local damage.

In this day and age, a holiday break is hardly considered an actual break. Not for the working man. Not for the stay-at-home mom. And especially not for the high school – and now even middle school – athlete.
