The Herscher Tigers’ varsity football campaign kicked off with a major statement win Friday night.

Scoring 29 points in the second half alone, the Tigers defeated the Momence Redskins 43-0.

The offensive onslaught was led by running back Cody Lunsford who ran in for three touchdowns, two of those came in the second half to cap off an excellent first outing for himself and his teammates.

The Redskins couldn’t get any offense going all game long as the Tigers’ defense kept their offense at bay.

One of the major plays of the game happened as the first half ended as the team saw one of their own go down with a potential nasty injury as Junior Wide Receiver/Defensive Back Trent Schill was carted off the field at halftime.

Herscher used this as extra motivation to push forward and dominate the second half with their versatile running game.

They take their convincing first win momentum on the road next week against Clifton Central on Friday night September 6.
