The varsity boys basketball team’s season has come to an end.

The team fell to the Momence Redskins at regionals and were snuck past by a score of 48-72. But considering they overcame some struggles early in the season, the Herscher Tigers’ varsity basketball team left next season’s players with higher goals and success.

Senior Blake Ohrt, center, stated, “I was just hoping to be able to upset a few good teams since some people expected us to not have that great of a year. I had just hoped to get a lot of playing time and maybe lead the team in rebounds. I was pretty close to my rebounding goal before I got injured.”

Sophomore Cam Berns, who stepped up for his team as an a and guard, explained, “My expectations for the season were higher than the result of the season, but I felt the team had good times and bad times. I feel that I have improved a lot from this basketball season. Goals I broke include starting by the end of the year this season and to get to play more on the varsity level. Next season, I hope we can make it farther into the post-season and play better as a team. Goals I have for next year are to have a record above 500 and just to win some games in the post-season.”
