Last weekend Herscher Tigers’ boys basketball competed in the Interstate 8 conference tournament. The Tigers were a nine seed in the tournament.
They suffered a loss in their first game to the eighth seeded Streator Bulldogs. The Tigers then beat the Wilmington Wildcats 44-36 to end their five-game losing streak.
Senior Blake Ohrt had 16 points and junior Jack Holohan scored 12. The Interstate tournament for the Tigers was a short one because of cancelled games due to weather.
Blake Orht said, “We had a tough loss against Streator but we were able to bounce back against Wilmington to end our five game losing streak.”
Sophomore point guard Camden Berns said, “Streator is a good team and we really couldn’t get things going for us early and that led to our loss. We played pretty good against Wilmington and we got the W. I think that win will get us back on track and in the right direction for the rest of the season.”
