The Herscher Tigers football team suffered its second loss in an eye-opening 42-0 loss courtesy of Coal City. The Tigers moved to 1-2 on the season and 0-1 in conference play. As the Tigers continued to fight to put points on the board, the Coaler defense held too strong for the young Tiger offense to handle.
When taking on an Illinois Central Eight giant, all a coach can ask for from his players is to keep their heads up and play with heart until the clock shows zeros. When the Tigers took on the Coalers Friday night, Head Coach Dan Wetzel got just that. Despite the shutout loss, the boys continued to stay mentally strong until the end of the night.
However, the rough loss is now in the review. The Tigers are making the trip to Benedictine University to play in their second conference game against Lisle on Friday. The Tigers are looking to get back on track by taking a win on the road before a stretch of conference games.Head Coach Dan Wetzel said, “It’s like a new season for us. With six winnable games left we just need to figure out how to put it all together. We’ve been through rough back to back games and really need a win to get everyone excited again. It’s not going to be easy, but we have to keep fighting through the adversity.”
