The Tigers have only a couple of games left in their season and are riding a strong defense to close it out. The Tigers battled the Manteno Panthers and used their trademark suffocating defense to top the Panthers 53-42. The Tigers limited the Panthers to a mere 16 points in the first half. The Tigers used that defense to race out to a commanding 21-point lead. The Panthers mounted a bit of a comeback in the late third/early 4th quarters, but the lead proved to be too insurmountable. The Tigers strong effort was paced by Joe Holohan who had 20 points and 8 rebounds. Bascom Jackson and Logan Lunsford chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively.
The Tigers were back in action the next night against a talented Iroquois West Raiders squad and eventually succumbed to the Raiders talent by a score of 56-42. The Tigers matched the Raiders intensity and talent early on and even lead 14-11 after the first quarter. The Tigers used their transition game to get Bascom Jackson several easy layups early on to claim the lead. However, the Raiders adjusted in a big way at the start of the second quarter and raced to a double-digit lead. The Tigers locked down on defense the remaining of the second quarter though and went to the break trailing only 22-25. The Raiders talent offensively took over in the third quarter and hit several tough, contested shots by Tiger defenders. Iroquois West remained ahead by double digits most of the 4th quarter on their way to victory. The Tigers were led in scoring by Tyler Murray who had 14 points.
The Peotone Blue Devils are glad to be done facing the Tigers this season. The Tigers held the Devils to a mere 3 first quarter points on Friday night. The Tigers at one point led by 20 points in the first half and held on to win 49-40. Herscher defeated Peotone both times they played them this year and held them to an average of only 39 points in the contests. The Tigers' charge was led by Joe Holohan who had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Murray contributed 8 points and six rebounds. The Tigers improved to 8-6 on the season and 7-3 in conference play.
